The Workshops Rail Museum at North Ipswich is getting set for a massive school holiday program!

Get your hard hats ready to create a masterpiece with LEGO®, Straws and K’Nex from 24 June to 9 July 2023, with a special sensory day on 5 July. (For this very special day we will turn the sound down and create and engaging and fun space that children with sensory processing difficulties can share with their families and carers.)

Little Builders – Dream it! Design it! Build it! Test it!

This area is jam-packed full of Lego, Straws and K’Nex ready to build and test your own inventions. Design your own masterpiece and watch it come to life.
Don’t forget our under 3’s big block builders activity space, full of larger blocks, Duplo, plastic tools and more!

Tiny Tradies

Try your hands at the specialised trades undertaken by thousands of past railway workers. Learn how to build a wagon, then take it to the testing area to see how it performs. Try out your plumbing skills by creating plumbing for a steam train at our plumbing station.

Builder’s Plate Maker Space

A unique feature on every locomotive is the builder’s plate! Explore builder’s plates from the collection and create your own to take home.

Big Blue Blocks

Get building, engineering, and inventing with the Big Blue Blocks in the Theatrette. How tall can you go without it falling down?

Miniature Train Rides

Sit back, relax and enjoy the ride on the Land Train. Train ride operates 10am to 3pm. Charges apply.
