Ipswich City Councillor Paul Tully joined The Brekkie Club to discuss Division 2 updates and Australia Day plans, setting the stage for an action-packed 2025.

Traffic Upgrades Take Center Stage

Major roadworks in Division 2 are progressing:

  • Springfield Central: New traffic signals at the Centenary Highway entrance to Orion Shopping Centre are operational.
  • Redbank Plains: Stage three of the Redbank Plains Road upgrade is nearly complete, with final touches on traffic signals underway.
  • Springfield Fair Area: Four-laning between Himba Yumba School and Topaz Road has begun, promising long-term traffic improvements.

“These upgrades require patience due to complex underground works,” Cr Tully said, emphasizing the importance of the projects for motorists.

He also stressed the need for extending the Springfield Central rail line to Ripley Valley, stating, “It’s a vital step to get people off the roads and provide better public transport options.”

2025 Ipswich Australia Day Awards

The highly anticipated Ipswich Australia Day Awards will take place on Wednesday, January 22, in the Dandiri Room. Fourteen individuals and four community organizations are finalists across six categories, including Citizen of the Year and Cultural Award.

“These awards celebrate the unsung heroes who tirelessly contribute to our community,” Cr Tully said.

Free Pool Entry on Australia Day

On Sunday, January 26, Ipswich residents can enjoy free entry to council-owned pools, including Goodna Aquatic Centre, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Additionally, free water parks, such as Orion Lagoon, Bob Gamble Park, and Ripley Splash ‘n’ Play, offer alternative ways to beat the heat.

“Bring your family, slap on sunscreen, and enjoy Australia Day together,” Cr Tully encouraged.

Looking Ahead

Cr Tully remains focused on advocating for community improvements, particularly in infrastructure and public transport, as Ipswich continues to grow.
