An all-Ipswich showdown awaits, in the 2020 Rugby League Volunteers’ Cup competition, following two terrific semi-finals, at the North Ipswich Reserve last Saturday.

In the opening contest of the day, it was North Ipswich against the Toowoomba Valleys Roosters. In their previous two encounters, the Roosters were too good for the Tigers, but the North Ipswich squad saved their best for when it mattered, producing a dominant display over 80 minutes of Football, winning 40-12, and booking their place in the Grand Final.

The writing was on the wall for the Roosters in the opening 10 minutes, when they trailed 12-0, and they were never able to get on top of the match from there. Norths carried that momentum all the way through, in what was, perhaps, their best performance of the season thus far.

In the second semi-final, the Goodna Eagles faced the West End Bulldogs, who came into this game with plenty of belief, fresh on the back of defeating two top-three teams (Valleys and Norths) in as many weeks.
Sadly, they were unable to continue that run of form, as Goodna walked away with it in the end, winning 38-12, to set up a tantalising Grand Final showdown, against the Tigers, this coming Saturday.

It’s a game that promises to provide a tremendous conclusion to this Volunteers’ Cup competition.
The Tigers go in knowing that they can beat the Eagles. In fact, the Tigers are the only team that has enjoyed success over the Eagles this season, when they triumphed on home soil, on Old Boys’ Day, back in Round 7.

Goodna will have that Round 7 result on their mind, as they prepare for the Grand Final, and Saturday looms as the ultimate decider between these two teams. Not only will the winner claim head-to-head honours for 2020, but also the Volunteers’ Cup trophy.

On Saturday, Bomber and Zak will preview this big game, in the Week End Sports Swich from 9-10am AEST, before we bring you LIVE & EXCLUSIVE coverage of the Grand Final, direct from the North Ipswich Reserve, from 2pm AEST, with kick-off from 3pm.
