The latest episode of All Ability Hour on West Bremer Radio showcased incredible individuals and initiatives, from personal journeys to a life-changing fundraiser.
Adam’s Journey with Focal Community Services
First up was Adam, a long-time participant at Focal Community Services, who shared insights into his daily life. Having been with Focal for over five years, Adam has built friendships and developed valuable skills through various programs.
Adam, a passionate wrestling fan, also revealed his three-year relationship with his girlfriend, Libby. “We went out for dinner at Orion for Valentine’s Day,” he shared. He also enjoys cooking, bowling, and movies with his support group.
Adaptable Support Services Making a Difference
The show also welcomed Kiana and Nelson from Adaptable Support Services, a fast-growing disability support provider. Nominated for Best New Business in the Australian disability industry, Adaptable focuses on community access, personal care, fitness, and group programs.
Their philosophy is simple: “We want to modernize disability support and create an environment where clients feel empowered.”
A Community Effort to Support Mitchie
The segment closed with an urgent fundraiser for Mitchie, a 16-year-old with cerebral palsy, ABI, and epilepsy. Due to mobility challenges, Mitchie relies on taxis, but Ipswich has a severe shortage of wheelchair-accessible transport.
To help, Adaptable is fundraising $45,000 for a wheelchair-accessible vehicle, ensuring Mitchie can attend medical appointments, social events, and live a fuller life.
Donations and support can be made via Adventures with Mitchie’s Linktree
A powerful episode proving that Ipswich’s disability community is thriving—and ready to make a difference.
