Ipswich Criminal Investigation Branch detectives have pressed charges against a woman after conducting an inquiry into an armed robbery incident involving a taxi driver in Booval this afternoon.

According to law enforcement, the woman requested a taxi to transport her from Leichhardt to Collingwood Park. While on the ride, she brandished a knife, coercing the driver to change course and head to Richlands.

At a stop in Booval, the woman forcibly took $40 from the driver before making a swift escape on foot. Fortunately, the driver promptly alerted nearby police to the situation.

The authorities managed to apprehend the woman without any untoward events shortly thereafter.

The individual in question, a 24-year-old Leichhardt resident, now faces charges that include armed robbery and deprivation of liberty. She has been denied police bail and is scheduled to appear before Ipswich Magistrates Court on September 6th.
