Here are just a few of the great local celebrations taking place around the city for Australia Day 2022!

Tulmur Place

Celebrate Australia Day in the Nicholas Street Precinct. Tulmur Place will play host to a family-friendly day full of activities as we celebrate, all the things we love about our country.

Enjoy a welcome performance by the Nunukul Yuggera Aboriginal Dance Company, singalong to Australian rock classics with cover band Chester, cool-down at the zero-depth water play zone and misting stations and enjoy a variety of food trucks of all tastes.

This event is assisted by the Australian Government through the National Australia Day Council.

Australia Day Flag Planting

6.45 – 9.00am

Help honour our Defence and Emergency Services personnel by putting an Australian flag on their graves this Australia Day at the Ipswich Cemetery and Warril Park Lawn Cemetery.

Participants meet at 6.45am at the Ipswich Ceremony with an expected 9am finish followed by a thank you morning tea at CSI.


CSI has come on board again and very kindly donated the Australian Flags as well as putting on morning tea at the conclusion at CSI 5A Lowry Street North Ipswich.

Laidley Australia Day celebrations

Visit the Laidley Pioneer Village and Museum, Pioneer Street, from 8.30am for the Australia Day Celebrations including

  • Flag raising,
  • Welcome to country celebrations,
  • Shearing demonstration,
  • Wheelright – making wagon wheels,
  • Blacksmith demonstration,
  • Whipcracking demonstration,
  • Leatherwork demonstration,
  • Baby farm animals,
  • Small stationary engine demonstration,
  • Aboriginal entertainers – troy jason ia and milton walit – ti – aboriginal dance group, dance groups,
  • Fire eater,
  • Bush poets,
  • Children’s activities,
  • Quoits, hopscotch and more.

Lockyer Valley Australia Day Awards Ceremony and Citizenship Ceremony

It‘s Australia Day, and the community is invited to come together to acknowledge the people that make the Lockyer Valley a great place to live, work and play and to welcome new citizens to the region. On Wednesday 26 January, we will gather as a community for the Australia Day Awards Ceremony from 9am, followed by the Citizenship Ceremony from 11am.

Gatton Historical Village Australia Day Celebration

Join the Members of Gatton and District Historical Society between 2pm and 9pm for the Australia Day Celebration including:

  • Welcome to Country
  • Cultural Workshops (some bookings required)
  • Live entertainment
  • Gumboot throwing, thong throwing, Paper Aeroplane Competitions
  • The Great Lockyer Lamington Bake Off!
  • Global Food Trucks

    PLUS a free screening of the ICONIC Aussie film, the Castle!
    This is a FREE community event.
