Limelight Cinemas is heading deeper into the school holiday rush with a mix of Australian film, romance, live concert screenings and major advance ticket sales drawing strong crowds.
Among the new releases is The Deb, an Australian coming-of-age musical marking the directorial debut of Rebel Wilson. The film follows country teenager Taylor, who sees her local debutante ball as the key to a fresh start, while her city cousin Maeve arrives in town under very different circumstances after social media trouble. Cinema spokesperson Lex said the film had surprised audiences, winning over a wide range of viewers, including people who would not normally choose it.
Lex described the film as an important and entertaining watch for teenage girls, while adding that adult audiences have also responded strongly. She said a previous mystery screening drew enthusiastic feedback from viewers across different age groups.
Also opening is You, Me and Tuscany, a romantic comedy starring Regé-Jean Page and Halle Bailey. The film follows a young woman who finds herself hiding out in a Tuscan villa before being discovered and drawn into an unexpected romance. Lex said the film offered a classic “strangers to lovers” storyline and was expected to appeal strongly to chick flick fans during the school break.

Beyond traditional films, Limelight is also tapping into the popularity of K-pop with a live cinema stream of BTS’s world tour performance from Korea. The concert screening is scheduled for Saturday night, with fans invited to arrive early for the event.
Advance ticket sales have also opened for Michael and The Devil Wears Prada 2, with organisers reporting strong demand already. An opening night event is planned for Michael, while a “Girls Night Out” screening for The Devil Wears Prada 2 is nearly sold out in premium seating.
School holiday films continue to perform well, with Goat, Super Mario Galaxy Movie, The Magic Faraway Tree and Disney’s Hoppers all still screening and attracting family audiences. Lex said the Easter long weekend had been especially strong, with cinemas full and school holiday traffic continuing to build.
With a packed program of family movies, Australian releases and live event screenings, Limelight Cinemas says the holiday period has well and truly kicked into gear.
