Division 1 Councillor Pye Augustine has hit the ground running in 2025, engaging with the Ipswich community and championing outdoor activities. Speaking on West Bremer Radio, Councillor Augustine reflected on a busy start to the year and outlined plans for Division 1.
The year began with a lively New Year’s Eve celebration at the Tivoli Drive-In, where Augustine was spotted “dancing up a storm” alongside a crowd of 7,000 attendees. “It was such a good atmosphere, and the performers were incredible,” she said.
This weekend, Augustine will host her first community catch-up for the year at Ripley Town Square. She invited residents to visit her stall on Saturday, January 11th, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. “It’s a chance to chat, raise concerns, or just say hello,” she said.
Augustine also highlighted Ipswich’s growing reputation after the Today Show broadcast live from the Redbank Plains Skate Park. The event showcased Olympian Hayley Powell and other skateboarding talents. “It’s great to see Ipswich getting national attention for its incredible facilities,” Augustine said.
As the school holidays wind down, Augustine encouraged families to explore Ipswich’s walking trails. She praised local options like the serene White Rock Conservation Estate, known for its sacred significance and guided moonrise walks, and the more challenging Flinders Peak trail at the Flinders-Goolman Conservation Estate.
“Getting out into nature is a fantastic way to stay active and connect with our environment,” she said, adding, “Whether you’re aiming for fitness goals or just looking for family fun, Ipswich has something for everyone.”
Councillor Augustine plans to continue her active role throughout the year, engaging with the community and promoting Ipswich’s natural and cultural assets.
