Local Physio Clinic Offers Life-Changing Exercise Programs for Chronic Conditions
Ipswich, QLD – Bertram Physiotherapy is delivering a fresh approach to managing chronic health conditions, launching innovative group programs to support locals living with osteoarthritis and type 2 diabetes.
Speaking on West Bremer Radio’s All Ability Hour live from the Arts Connect Community Gallery at Booval Fair, Andrew from Bertram Physio introduced the internationally successful GLAD program — a Danish-designed initiative aimed at reducing the impact of hip and knee osteoarthritis.
“We’re seeing up to a 30% reduction in pain for participants,” said Andrew. “This program has helped people avoid unnecessary surgeries and live fuller lives simply through targeted, supervised exercise.”
GLAD — which stands for Good Life with Arthritis: Denmark — was developed after Denmark’s national health system sought alternatives to costly and invasive surgery. Now used globally, the program runs in Ipswich as a seven-week, small group class, with support from La Trobe University.
🏃 Diabetes Support Program Empowers Locals
The segment also featured Exercise Physiologist Steve Royal, who outlined Bertram Physio’s Type 2 Diabetes Exercise Program.
“The goal is to help people take back control of their health,” said Steve. “We tailor small-group sessions focused on safe, effective strength and aerobic training — which are key in managing blood sugar levels.”
The program complements GP management plans and offers up to eight group sessions per year, often covered under Medicare or private health insurance.
