It’s a blockbuster school holiday season at Limelight Cinemas Ipswich, with a jam-packed lineup led by the much-anticipated return of Jurassic World: Rebirth — and moviegoers can experience it all in comfort on the big screen.

Speaking on this week’s Limelight Cinemas Podcast, spokesperson Lex revealed a glowing review of the newest installment in the Jurassic franchise, calling it “a thrilling return to form.”

“It’s Jurassic World meets Alien. Suspenseful, action-packed, and with a D-Rex that’s going to blow your mind,” said Lex.
“It dives into human morals, biotech and pharma themes, and just nails that old-school Jurassic vibe.”

The movie stars Scarlett Johansson and Jonathan Bailey, and Lex said audiences have been buzzing about Bailey’s now-viral on-screen look — glasses and all.

Families can also enjoy early screenings of Smurfs, featuring Rihanna as the voice of Smurfette. Originally scheduled for a July 5 release, Limelight has secured special early access, giving Ipswich audiences a jumpstart on the animated fun.

“The Smurfs journey to the real world to rescue Papa Smurf — and it looks like they might even end up in Australia,” Lex teased.

Other current and upcoming family favourites include:

  • Lilo & Stitch
  • How to Train Your Dragon (live-action)
  • Disney’s Elio — a hit with neurodivergent children
  • Karate Kid
