Tragedy struck on September 17 when a 25-year-old man from Ripley lost his life in a three-vehicle collision near Amberley in Ipswich.
Preliminary reports indicate that around 6:45 pm, a grey Mitsubishi Lancer was making a westward turn onto the Cunningham Highway from Ipswich Rosewood Road, colliding with an eastbound truck.
The Lancer subsequently collided with a silver Toyota Camry before coming to a halt.
Regrettably, the rear passenger of the Lancer, the 25-year-old Ripley resident, suffered critical injuries and passed away at the scene.
The Lancer’s driver, a 33-year-old man from Highgate Hill, was airlifted to Princess Alexandra Hospital in serious condition. Thankfully, the front passenger escaped physical harm.
Both the truck’s driver, a 25-year-old man from Pine Mountain, and the Camry’s driver emerged unharmed.
Everyone involved is cooperating with the police in their investigation.
The Forensic Crash Unit is urging any witnesses or individuals with dashcam footage or CCTV recordings from the vicinity to come forward.
The investigation is ongoing.
