Ipswich moviegoers are in for a bumper season at Limelight Cinemas, with everything from crime thrillers and horror to sing-alongs and anniversary classics set to hit the big screen.
Speaking on the Limelight Cinemas Podcast, cinema spokesperson Lex said the next few months are “jam-packed” with special events.
“We currently have 21 special events on sale, and more still to come for October, November and December. It’s a lot — coffee is the only way I’m surviving,” Lex joked.
Among the highlights is Caught Stealing, a new crime thriller starring Austin Butler, Zoe Kravitz and Liev Schreiber, about a former baseball star who becomes entangled with gangsters after a simple favour goes wrong.
Nostalgia also takes centre stage, with Jaws returning for its 50th anniversary in XD format, giving audiences the chance to relive one of cinema’s most iconic thrillers on the biggest screen possible.
Families are in for fun with the launch of a Sing-Along Series, beginning this weekend with Frozen, followed by Grease, The Greatest Showman and Moana. Fans of classics can also catch Clueless in a special Crafty Classics session, where audiences can bring along craft activities while enjoying the 90s favourite.
Music lovers are catered for too, with André Rieu’s latest concert screenings proving so popular that premium “Gold” seats are already sold out. Other upcoming special events include Heather’s: The Musical, Bat Out of Hell, and a special screening featuring comedy legend John Cleese.
For horror fans, The Conjuring: Last Rites will have an advance screening ahead of its official release, while foodies can indulge in a special two-course dining experience during the advanced screening of The Roses, starring Olivia Colman and Benedict Cumberbatch.
With sport, musicals, and even cult ads making appearances, Lex says there’s something for everyone:
“Whether it’s sharks, singalongs, or scares — Limelight has you covered.”
