From giant monsters and Hollywood thrillers to Bollywood action and exclusive Girls’ Night Out screenings, November is shaping up to be another exciting month at Limelight Cinemas.
Speaking on West Bremer Radio’s Limelight Cinemas Podcast, Lex shared details of the latest films heading to the big screen, along with two special events already attracting strong ticket sales.
With new releases featuring Olivia Colman, Alexander Skarsgård, Sam Rockwell and John Malkovich, plus the return of Godzilla, moviegoers have plenty to look forward to.
Wicker delivers laughs, romance and plenty of cheeky moments
One of the latest films generating conversation is Wicker, starring Olivia Colman and Alexander Skarsgård.
The film recently featured at Limelight Cinemas’ Halloween Girls’ Night Out screening, where audiences were treated to an unusual and entertaining romantic story.
Lex said the response from moviegoers was overwhelmingly positive, with plenty of laughter throughout the screening.
“Everyone was having a giggle or just thought it was highly entertaining,” she said.
“It was very witty, very fun.”
The film follows a fisherwoman who seeks an unconventional husband, leading to a series of unexpected and provocative encounters.
Lex said the movie would particularly appeal to audiences who enjoy romantic stories with an adult twist.
“This is for book girlies who like their books extra spicy,” she joked.
She also praised SkarsgÃ¥rd’s performance as the mysterious wicker man.
Lex encouraged moviegoers looking for something different to check out the film’s trailer and experience it on the big screen.
Wild Horse Nine brings Hollywood heavyweights to Easter Island
Another film attracting attention is Wild Horse Nine, starring Sam Rockwell and John Malkovich.
The film follows two CIA agents sent to Easter Island on a secret mission, only for their plans to become complicated after meeting two young women.
Lex said the movie comes from the creative team associated with acclaimed films The Banshees of Inisherin and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.
She described the upcoming release as a quirky and entertaining production with plenty of humour.
“This trailer is so funny and very entertaining,” she said.
According to Lex, the film has already generated considerable excitement following international festival screenings.
She said it received an enthusiastic response at the Venice Film Festival, including a lengthy standing ovation, and attracted positive reactions in Toronto.
“Our fearless leader has also seen this film and cannot speak highly enough of it,” Lex said.
Despite its longer running time, Lex believes the movie will reward audiences looking for an engaging cinematic experience.
“I can’t wait to see it. It is a longer film, but absolutely worth it,” she said.
Ramayana brings Bollywood action to Ipswich
Limelight Cinemas is also continuing to expand its international film offerings, with Ramayana joining the lineup.
The film will screen in Hindi with English subtitles, making it accessible to audiences who do not speak the language.
Lex said the title had been highly requested by local moviegoers.
“Now this is one of our Bollywood titles that was very highly requested,” she said.
She encouraged audiences who might not usually watch Indian cinema to give the film a chance, particularly those who enjoy action-packed blockbusters.
“These films are not just for our Bollywood audiences,” Lex said.
“Bollywood films have incredible action sequences. They have really amazing visual effects.”
Lex said international films offered audiences an opportunity to experience different storytelling styles while still enjoying the excitement of a major cinema release.
“Even though this may not be your native language that you would go and watch a film in, I highly recommend coming to check them out,” she said.
“They are a lot of fun.”
Godzilla Minus Zero promises monster-sized action
Fans of Japanese monster movies also have something to celebrate, with Godzilla Minus Zero heading to Limelight Cinemas.
The film follows Godzilla Minus One, which attracted considerable attention from audiences when it was released.
Lex said the upcoming sequel would be presented in Japanese with English subtitles.
She revealed that early ticket sales were already showing strong interest.
“Our ticket sales are actually going a little bit crazy on this one,” she said.
Lex said the film was attracting enthusiasm from Godzilla followers and fans of Japanese entertainment.
She also stressed that giant monster movies were best experienced in a cinema.
“Godzilla must be seen on a big screen,” she said.
“You need to use a proper screen, a proper sound system.”
Lex said she was looking forward to the spectacle of the film’s action sequences.
“Big monster action on the big screen. Just what you want,” she said.
Hunger Games Girls’ Night Out almost sold out
Away from the new releases, Limelight Cinemas is preparing for its final two Girls’ Night Out events of the year.
The first will feature The Hunger Games on Wednesday, November 18.
Lex said demand had been exceptionally strong, with the original Gold Cinema allocation already sold out.
The XD screening was also almost fully booked, with only a small number of daybeds remaining at the time of the interview.
Due to the popularity of the event, Limelight Cinemas has opened an additional Gold Cinema session.
“The first Gold Cinema completely sold out. Now I’ve just added one more Gold Cinema,” Lex said.
“This is the last of the tickets for our Hunger Games Girls’ Night Out event.”
She encouraged anyone hoping to attend to secure their seats as soon as possible.
“If you haven’t secured your seats yet, this is your last warning, your last chance to do so,” she said.
Focker In-Law Girls’ Night Out tickets now available
The final Girls’ Night Out event for 2026 will feature Focker In-Law on Wednesday, November 25.
Lex said tickets had just gone on sale and expressed excitement about the film, which she said features Ariana Grande.
The event will offer moviegoers another opportunity to enjoy a special evening with friends before the end of the year.
Limelight Cinemas’ Girls’ Night Out events include additional treats and experiences beyond the film itself.
Gold Cinema guests receive a drink on arrival, a two-course meal served in the cinema and a gift bag.
XD guests receive a drink on arrival and a goodie bag.
“We’ve got some really fun gift bags that our guests get,” Lex said.
“If you’re coming to Gold, you get a drink on arrival and a two-course meal served in cinema too.”
She encouraged audiences to book early for the remaining events.
“If you want to have a girly night out at the movies, highly recommend coming along to these,” she said.
Exciting times ahead for cinema fans
Lex also shared her enthusiasm for the future of the movie industry after recently attending a cinema industry event on the Gold Coast.
The event provided an opportunity to preview upcoming films and content planned for release over the next year or two.
While confidentiality agreements prevented her from revealing specific details, Lex said the future lineup was looking particularly promising.
“The next 12 months is looking very exciting,” she said.
“Seeing all of that content that we got to check out just fuels that little fire in our bellies in CinemaLand.”
She said the upcoming releases reinforced her belief that cinemas would continue to offer audiences memorable entertainment experiences.
“The next 12 months is going to be a really great time to be heading to the big screen,” she said.
