A social media page dedicated to showcasing the positive side of Ipswich is celebrating its first anniversary — and has already built a community of more than 21,000 followers.
Hello Ipswich was created by local Rozina as a flexible work-from-home project and a way to reconnect with the community after returning to Ipswich five years ago.
Starting with no followers, the page has grown rapidly by sharing stories about local people, businesses, events and places from across the region.
Rozina told West Bremer Radio she wanted Hello Ipswich to focus on the good happening throughout the city, particularly at a time when traditional sources of local information have changed.
She said Ipswich had experienced enormous growth since her childhood, but had retained much of the community spirit she remembered.
The page covers areas right across the region, from Rosewood and North Ipswich to Springfield, highlighting interesting people, businesses and experiences that residents may otherwise not discover.
Rozina said social media was also helping challenge some of the negative perceptions traditionally associated with Ipswich by giving both locals and people outside the region a different look at the city.
Hello Ipswich can be found on Facebook and Instagram with the page also maintaining a presence on TikTok.
