The Ipswich Hospital Foundation (IHF) is gearing up for Go Pink 2024, an initiative aimed at raising awareness and funds to support breast cancer patients across the West Moreton region. The highlight of the campaign is the Annual IHF Go Pink Breakfast, set to take place on Tuesday, 1 October, at Club Services Ipswich (CSI) from 7:30 am to 9:30 am.

Community members are encouraged to participate by attending the breakfast, hosting their own fundraising events, or creating personalised fundraising pages on the IHF Go Pink website. Limited edition Go Pink merchandise is also available, with all funds supporting the purchase of medical equipment, research projects, and educational programs that enhance breast cancer care in the region.

One of the campaign’s key features is sharing personal stories from local advocates like Mary Basham and Trevor Roberts, who emphasise the importance of regular self-examinations and mammograms. Mary, a 64-year-old nurse and grandmother, urges women to be proactive in scheduling mammograms. Trevor, a local sensei, shares his experience as one of the 1% of Australian men diagnosed with breast cancer, aiming to reduce stigma around the disease for men.

The Go Pink Breakfast will include inspiring speakers like Trevor, and participants are encouraged to wear pink to show their support. Funds raised will contribute to improving breast cancer treatment and care in the local community.

To get involved, purchase tickets at Go Pink 2024 or book a breast screening at 13 20 50 or BreastScreen Queensland.
