Ipswich families are being encouraged to make the most of the Easter break, with a packed line-up of school holiday activities, popular aqua fitness classes and playground upgrades across the city.
Deputy Mayor Nicole Jonic said Ipswich City Council’s active and healthy programs continued to grow in popularity, with the weekly aqua fitness class at Orion attracting strong numbers. The class recently wrapped up for the Easter break with a themed Easter bonnet event and will return later this month. Council is now looking at adding a second class at Orion due to demand.
She said the active and healthy program runs across Ipswich and remains one of council’s most popular community initiatives, with classes often booking out quickly.

For school holidays, families can access a wide range of free children’s activities through council’s program, including sport, yoga, hip hop and stage shows. In Division 2, activities are being hosted at the Goodna Community Centre, Silver Jubilee Sports Ground, Atlantis Drive sporting complex, YMCA Springfield Central and Springfield Skate Park.
Deputy Mayor Jonic said the program was designed to help parents keep children active and entertained over the break, with options available across multiple suburbs.
Meanwhile, upgrades are also underway at Grande Park in Springfield Lakes, where the existing playground and landscaping are being refreshed. The park’s large slide area, described as one of its standout features, is being updated as part of the works. The site also includes a practice road area where children can ride bikes and learn road safety basics.
Council says families looking for local holiday options should check its website for the latest active and healthy and school holiday program details.
