Moviegoers can prepare for one last dose of outrageous stunts when Jackass: Best and Last arrives at Limelight Cinemas, marking the final chapter in the long-running comedy franchise.
The latest film sees Johnny Knoxville reunite with the Jackass crew for what is being billed as their final outing, delivering the over-the-top pranks, dangerous stunts and outrageous humour that have made the series a global cult favourite.
Despite now sporting a little more grey hair, Knoxville and the team show no signs of slowing down as they push themselves through another collection of increasingly ridiculous challenges.
Limelight Cinemas’ Lex said fans can expect exactly what they’ve come to know from the franchise.
“It’s the finale of the Jackass series. Johnny Knoxville is back, grey hair and all, and as always they’ve managed to take everything just that little bit further,” she said.
While Jackass: Best and Last caters to older audiences, the school holidays are proving just as busy for families, with several blockbuster releases continuing to draw crowds.
Toy Story 5 Strikes a Chord with Families
Leading the family lineup is Toy Story 5, which Lex said has been exceptionally well received since opening.
The latest instalment explores the growing role of technology in children’s lives, introducing a new device known as “Lilypad” that competes with Woody, Buzz and the rest of the toy box for children’s attention.
“It’s really about putting technology away and letting kids be kids again by using their imagination,” Lex said.
The message has resonated strongly with parents, many of whom have praised the film’s focus on balancing screen time with creative play.
Minions Continue School Holiday Fun
Also screening throughout the holidays is Minions and Monsters, which follows the mischievous yellow characters as they attempt to make a movie before accidentally unleashing monsters and chaos.
“The concept is pretty funny,” Lex said.
“It’s a movie about Minions making a movie, and then having to deal with all the chaos they’ve created.”
The animated adventure continues to attract younger audiences during the busy holiday period.
Sensory Screenings Return
Limelight Cinemas is also continuing its sensory-friendly screening program, offering a more comfortable cinema experience for children who may find traditional movie environments overwhelming.
Special screenings of Toy Story 5 are being held on Sunday mornings during the school holidays.
The sessions feature reduced sound levels, dimmed lighting and smaller audience numbers to create a more relaxed environment for children with sensory sensitivities or those attending the cinema for the first time.
“We want everyone to be able to enjoy the big screen,” Lex said.
“It’s also a great introduction for young children who might be a little nervous about sitting in a dark cinema.”
