After a well-earned European holiday, Lex from Limelight Cinemas is back on The Brekkie Club with all the latest movie magic lighting up Ipswich screens — and there’s something for everyone this week.
First up is “Roof Man,” a quirky crime drama based on a true story. Starring Channing Tatum as Geoffrey Manchester, a down-on-his-luck father who turns to robbing McDonald’s restaurants by cutting through their roofs, the film follows his double life — including secretly living inside a Toys “R” Us for six months. “It’s a great blend of crime, drama, and comedy,” Lex said. “And the idea of living in a toy store? That’s every kid’s dream.”
For horror fans, “The Black Phone 2” returns four years after the original chilling thriller. The story follows Finn, still haunted by his abductor, The Grabber, who now targets his younger sister. With eerie phone calls and dark family secrets, Lex warns this one’s “not for the faint-hearted.”
Families, however, can look forward to something lighter with “A Night at the Zoopocalypse.” The animated adventure follows a wolf and mountain lion who must stop a virus that turns zoo animals into zombies. “Despite the title, it’s definitely a kids’ movie — full of laughs and action,” Lex said.
Fans of cult classics can also join interactive screenings of The Rocky Horror Picture Show this Friday and Sunday. Attendees are encouraged to dress up and take part in the fun with props and audience participation. “It’s the most fun you can have in a cinema,” Lex laughed.
Other highlights include a special presentation of Les Misérables: The Stage Concert and a Girls’ Night Out preview of Regretting You, based on Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel.
All sessions, times, and tickets are available now at limelightcinemas.com.au.
