Ipswich moviegoers are in for a busy school holiday season, with Limelight Cinemas rolling out a packed line-up of family films, special offers and the much-anticipated arrival of the new Super Mario movie.

Among the headline releases is Disney’s Hoppers, a family comedy that follows a quirky story involving a human mind transferred into a beaver as part of a mission to save a pond from a major road project. Cinema spokesperson Lex said the film delivers laughs for both children and adults, continuing Disney’s tradition of appealing to the whole family.

Also hitting the big screen is The Magic Faraway Tree, based on the beloved Enid Blyton story. With a cast including Rebecca Ferguson and Nicola Coughlan, the film is being pitched as a whimsical adventure in the style of Wonka, Narnia and Paddington. Limelight says interest has been strong from both families and older audiences familiar with the original book.

Another major release is I Swear, a drama based on the real-life story of British Tourette syndrome campaigner John Davidson. Set against the backdrop of the 1980s, the film explores his diagnosis and the challenges of living with Tourette syndrome at a time when public understanding was limited. Cinema staff say the film is both powerful and educational, highlighting the need for greater awareness of neurological conditions.

Limelight is also preparing for huge demand ahead of the release of Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday, April 1. Early excitement has already been building, with Mario-themed merchandise, including Yoshi popcorn tubs, prompting a strong response from fans.

To coincide with the school holidays, Limelight Cinemas is offering a range of family-friendly ticket deals, including $20 kids’ gold class tickets and $10 family pass pricing for members of its free Limelight Legends program.

With a mix of new releases, nostalgic adaptations and blockbuster anticipation, the cinema says it is expecting a strong turnout from local families over the holiday break.
