Ipswich’s Limelight Cinemas was buzzing with excitement this past weekend as the highly anticipated Moana 2 graced the big screen. The animated blockbuster drew record crowds, with the newly refurbished XD cinema – featuring recliners and daybeds – opening just in time for the film’s debut.

“We put tickets on sale just an hour before the session, and nearly 100 people attended our first screening. The atmosphere was electric,” said Lex, Limelight Cinemas spokesperson. The movie’s success cements its place among animated classics like Shrek 2 and Incredibles 2.

The weekend also showcased Limelight’s renovations, with upgraded seating and state-of-the-art laser projection enhancing the cinematic experience. The full refurbishment is set to be completed just before Christmas, promising an even better movie-going experience for Ipswich locals.

For fans of holiday traditions, Limelight is bringing Christmas cheer with André Rieu’s Winter Wonderland. The concert film features festive classics performed under dazzling chandeliers and candelabras, offering audiences a magical seasonal escape.

Limelight’s popular Christmas classics series continues with Die Hard this weekend, followed by How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Love Actually, and Home Alone. “These films are part of the festive spirit, and it’s wonderful to see families coming together to enjoy them,” Lex added.

For those seeking something dramatic, advanced screenings of Conclave begin Sunday. The film, starring Ralph Fiennes, takes audiences inside the Vatican’s political intrigue as Cardinals gather to elect a new Pope.

Limelight’s gold-class experience, featuring $15 kids’ tickets for Moana, adds a touch of luxury to the holiday season.
