Ipswich households now have access to a major home safety upgrade, with the launch of the Target Hardening Home Security Support Program — an initiative from Neighbourhood Watch Australasia aimed at strengthening residential security and deterring crime.
Speaking on West Bremer Radio’s Crime Watch segment, Senior Constable Shantelle Dowell said the program forms part of the Safer Australia for Everyone campaign, officially launched in Ipswich on July 1.
“This is a fantastic crime prevention initiative,” Constable Dowell said. “Up to 250 Ipswich households are eligible for rebates of up to $550 to go towards security improvements.”
The Target Hardening strategy is designed to deter, delay or reduce the risk of unlawful entry or burglary by identifying home vulnerabilities and addressing them with effective security measures such as:
- Locks and deadbolts
- Security lights and motion sensors
- Security screens and reinforced doors
- Alarms and surveillance cameras
🏡 Who Is Eligible?
The rebate is open to homeowners in Ipswich who meet the program criteria. Successful applicants can receive funding to help install:
- Security locks
- Lighting systems
- Security screens
- Home CCTV cameras
