The rapidly growing community of Greater Springfield will soon see improved emergency response capabilities with the announcement of a new fire station. Charis Mullen, the representative for the Jordan electorate, shared this exciting development during a recent segment on West Bremer Radio.

Mullen, who has been a strong advocate for enhanced emergency services in the area, confirmed that a new fire and rescue station will be built in Augustine Heights. This new facility will join the existing emergency services cluster on Gateway Drive, adjacent to the ambulance and police stations, creating a comprehensive emergency services hub.

“Currently, we are serviced by the Camira and Ripley fire stations, which do an amazing job. However, given the growth in Greater Springfield, we have always aimed to have our own dedicated station,” Mullen explained. Despite some initial site issues causing delays, construction is set to commence soon, much to the community’s relief.

In addition to the new fire station, Mullen highlighted other significant projects in the Jordan electorate. One such project is the Springfield Central State High School Senior Campus. Initially delayed due to stabilized enrollment numbers, this project is now back on track, with plans to open in 2029 or 2030. Community consultations are currently underway to ensure the new campus meets the needs and expectations of future students and parents.

Mullen also discussed the upcoming upgrade of the Logan Motorway, a critical freight route and one of the region’s most congested areas. The Queensland Government, in collaboration with Transurban, plans to add new lanes and upgrade interchanges to improve traffic flow and support economic growth in the Ipswich region.

Furthermore, Mullen expressed her gratitude to the community for their overwhelming support following a fire that affected a local charity, “Formally Ever After Qld Inc.” The charity, which provides formal wear to students in need, received over 100 donations of dresses and suits after the incident, showcasing the community’s generosity and solidarity.

These developments underscore the ongoing efforts to enhance infrastructure and services in the Jordan electorate, ensuring the community is well-equipped to handle its growing needs.
