The 2026 Prism Awards – Ipswich Region Creative Arts Awards have reached a major milestone, with more than 100 nominations already received as the closing date approaches.
Nominations remain open until Sunday, 1 November 2026, giving the community just a few more weeks to recognise the artists, performers, musicians, writers, productions, exhibitions and creative organisations making an impact across the Ipswich region.
Formerly known as the Get Your Arts In Gear Awards, the Prism Awards have expanded significantly in 2026, with new categories joining returning favourites across performance, music, literature, visual arts, youth initiatives and community creativity.
Prism Awards co-organiser and West Bremer Radio & Media Director Bradley Clarke said reaching 100 nominations was an exciting indication of how strongly the community had embraced the awards.
“Getting more than 100 nominations is fantastic and shows just how much creative work is happening across the Ipswich region,” Clarke said.
“What makes it even more exciting is the variety of nominations we’re seeing. This isn’t just about one part of the arts community — we’re recognising theatre, music, visual art, literature, young creatives and the people and organisations using art to make a difference.”
The awards are being delivered in collaboration with Glen Smith from Artsconnect Ipswich, with both organisers aiming to create an event that brings different parts of the local creative sector together.
Smith said the nomination response demonstrated the depth of talent within the region.
“There are so many people creating incredible work across Ipswich, and often they’re working within their own particular area of the arts,” Smith said.
“The Prism Awards give us an opportunity to bring those different creative communities together, recognise what they’re achieving and create connections between people who may not normally cross paths.”
Community members can still nominate an individual, group, production, exhibition, project or organisation before nominations officially close on 1 November.
Following the judging process, the 2026 Prism Awards finalists will be announced on Sunday, 15 November.
The winners will then be revealed at the Prism Awards ceremony on Saturday, 12 December 2026, celebrating the full spectrum of creativity across the Ipswich region.
Nominations can be submitted online at www.prismawardsipswich.au or by scanning Prism Awards QR codes being displayed at venues across the region.
Clarke encouraged anyone who had been considering putting forward a nomination not to leave it too late.
“If someone has created something this year that made you stop, think, laugh, feel something or simply made our community a more creative place, nominate them,” he said.
“With more than 100 nominations already received, we’re shaping up for a fantastic celebration in December.”
