As school holidays approach in Ipswich, a range of exciting activities are set to delight families, offering something for everyone. From September 16 to 29, Ipswich will host the much-anticipated Dinosaur Discovery at Tulmur Place. Featuring animatronic dinosaurs with realistic sounds and movements, the event is expected to draw large crowds, with over 50,000 attendees recorded last time. In addition to the dinosaurs, there will be outdoor games, arts, crafts, food trucks, and more, creating a vibrant holiday atmosphere.
Ipswich’s Children’s Library will also run a holiday program packed with engaging activities. These include robot testing, mummification workshops, puppet shows, and more, ensuring educational fun for all ages. Ipswich libraries across the city will offer different programs, encouraging families to explore beyond their local branches.

For active kids, Ipswich’s Active and Healthy program will offer free and low-cost activities, including basketball, hockey, taekwondo, and scooter tricks. These “come and try” sessions allow kids to explore new sports and enjoy the outdoors.
In addition to school holiday fun, Ipswich has also made headlines with the recent resignation of Councillor David Cullen, leading to a council vote for a by-election in Division 4. [Check our refreshed election page.]
Meanwhile, the new urban arbor in Ipswich, funded by a $165,000 state grant, continues to take shape, offering much-needed shade and greenery along the route between Roderick and South Streets.
