Major works on the Springfield Parkway upgrade are continuing, with Ipswich Deputy Mayor and Division 2 Councillor Nicole Jonic assuring residents that significant progress has been taking place behind the scenes.
Cr Jonic said she had received feedback from residents questioning activity at the site, but explained much of the recent work involved underground service relocations, including gas, water, internet and power infrastructure.
More night works are expected in coming weeks between Topaz Road and the Springfield Parkway roundabout, including further major gas main relocation works.
Water main pressure testing and commissioning has now been successfully completed, while procurement for the project’s contractor is also progressing.
Cr Jonic said residents should soon begin noticing more visible, above-ground construction.
The Springfield Parkway project is one of the largest road upgrades undertaken by Ipswich City Council and will ultimately deliver significant improvements through the growing Springfield area.
Meanwhile, Council’s mobile nursery will visit Richardson Park at Goodna on Saturday, September 19 from 8am to 11am, giving eligible residents an opportunity to collect free plants through Council’s program.
Drainage rehabilitation works are also underway around Katandra Crescent at Bellbird Park, with new stormwater pipes and access chambers being installed to improve the area’s drainage network and cater for future growth.
Cr Jonic also welcomed the return of Supercars to Ipswich, saying the event was great news for the region and its strong motorsport community.
