In this episode of the State of Play on West Bremer Radio, we catch up with Jennifer Howard MP, the representative for the seat of Ipswich, to discuss the latest initiatives and updates for the new financial year. Starting from July 1st, residents will benefit from several cost-of-living measures, including a $1,000 reduction on electricity bills, additional discounts for seniors, and $200 sports vouchers for kids. Free flu vaccinations are also available, along with upcoming reductions in car registration fees and public transport fares.

Jennifer Howard MP highlights the recent visit by Deputy Premier Cameron Dick, who discussed the record funding allocated to health, education, community safety, and infrastructure in Ipswich. Additionally, the Goodness Enterprises, formerly Tivoli Social Enterprises, celebrated their 40th anniversary with a successful fundraising event featuring Tim Costello AM as a special guest speaker.

Ipswich has received over $50,000 from the Active Women and Girls program, supporting various local sports clubs to promote female participation. Jennifer emphasizes the importance of such programs in fostering community spirit and encouraging physical activity among women and girls.

Project Booyah, another initiative supported by Jennifer Howard MP, recently celebrated the graduation of six young participants. Since its reintroduction in 2018, the program has helped over 100 young people, with 87% going on to employment or further education. This program, along with the fee-free TAFE initiative, is crucial in providing accessible education and training opportunities, particularly in high-demand trades like construction, plumbing, and electrical work.

Finally, Jennifer Howard MP discusses the funding allocated to improve bus services in Ipswich, linking growing suburbs to the city and addressing the changing public transport needs. With these positive developments, Jennifer emphasizes the importance of spreading good news and supporting the community during tough times. She reminds everyone to take advantage of the free flu vaccinations to stay healthy.

Tune in to hear more about these initiatives and how they are positively impacting the Ipswich community.
