Limelight Cinemas is gearing up for a busy Easter school holiday period, with the release of Super Mario Galaxy leading a packed line-up of family films, collectibles and in-cinema Easter egg hunts.
Cinema spokesperson Lex said excitement had been building ahead of the Wednesday release of the new Mario film, with strong interest in the themed merchandise already on sale, including a Yoshi popcorn holder that has attracted a flood of calls from eager fans.
The latest Mario adventure sees Mario and Luigi head into outer space, where they team up with Princess Rosalina and face off against Bowser and Bowser Jr. The film features a major voice cast, including Chris Pratt, Jack Black and Anya Taylor-Joy, along with new additions such as Brie Larson, Donald Glover and Benny Safdie.
For older audiences, Limelight is also screening The Drama, starring Robert Pattinson and Zendaya, which follows a couple navigating relationship tensions and buried secrets in the lead-up to their wedding. The film is being pitched as a more adult option during the holiday period.
Alongside Super Mario Galaxy, the cinema’s school holiday line-up includes The Magic Faraway Tree, Goat and Disney’s Hoppers, offering a broad range of family films for younger audiences and parents alike. Other titles still playing include Project Hail Mary, Reminders of Him, Scream 7 and They Will Kill You.
Limelight Cinemas will remain open throughout the Easter long weekend, including Good Friday, Easter Saturday, Easter Sunday and Easter Monday. Lex said Easter egg hunts would be held inside the cinema before the first children’s session each day from Good Friday through to Easter Sunday, adding another layer of fun for families heading to the movies.
With blockbuster releases, family favourites and holiday-themed experiences on offer, Limelight expects a strong turnout over the Easter break as local moviegoers make the most of the school holidays.
