West Bremer Radio’s “All Ability Hour” continues to shine a spotlight on vital community services and personal stories of advocacy in Ipswich. Hosted by DJ Sparky and Patty from Focal Community Services, the latest episode featured insightful conversations with representatives from Star Community Services and EverHomes, highlighting the work being done for people with disabilities and the elderly in the region.

Melinda from Star Community Services kicked off the show by discussing her journey in aged care and her current role as an intake officer for Star. She explained how Star supports the Ipswich area with services such as NDIS coordination, transport, and aged care packages. “We treat each client with respect as an individual with goals and values,” she said, emphasising the organisation’s person-centered approach. She also noted the importance of understanding the various entitlements available, such as NDIS and aged care funding, and urged listeners to do their research to maximize support.

The second segment featured Sean and Linda from EverHomes, a specialized disability accommodation (SDA) provider. Sean, who has cerebral palsy, shared his personal experiences growing up with a disability and his passion for advocacy. He described EverHomes’ mission to provide safe and comfortable housing for people with disabilities across Queensland, from Ipswich to Cairns. “If we can change the life of even one person, we’ve done our job,” Sean said, capturing the spirit of the organisation.

Listeners were encouraged to reach out to both Star Community Services and EverHomes for more information on how to access their services. The episode concluded with a preview of next week’s show, which will feature a cooking challenge by the Focal team.

West Bremer Radio’s “All Ability Hour” continues to champion local services, providing valuable insights into the resources available for Ipswich’s diverse community.
