School holiday crowds and Easter festivities aren’t slowing things down at Limelight Cinemas, with a fresh line-up of films offering everything from suspense to sweetness—and a dose of Australian heroism.
Lex from Limelight joined DJ Sparky on The Brekkie Club to preview what’s playing on the big screen this week. First up is Drop, a tense thriller following a single mother whose casual date turns nightmarish when she begins receiving cryptic AirDropped messages forcing her into a high-stakes game to save her children. “It’s a wild ride—suspenseful and full of twists,” Lex said.
For something heartwarming, The Penguin Lessons is a must. Based on a true story, it follows a teacher who rescues a penguin from an oil slick—only for the penguin to follow him everywhere, forming an unlikely and touching friendship. “It’s sweet, wholesome, and perfect for the whole family,” Lex added.
On the horror front, Sinners sees twin brothers—played by Michael Jordan—returning to their hometown only to be haunted by an even greater evil than the past they tried to escape.
Also screening is Warfare, a gritty, immersive look at modern conflict through the eyes of American Navy SEALs on a mission gone wrong. Directed by Alex Garland (Civil War, 28 Days Later), it’s a raw and powerful story of brotherhood and survival.
Rounding out the line-up is The Correspondent, an Aussie drama based on the true story of journalist Peter Greste’s arrest in Cairo. The film dives into themes of press freedom, political corruption, and personal resilience.
Limelight is open right through Easter (including Good Friday), with family favourites like Minecraft, Dogman, Snow White, and King of Kings still playing.
