Ipswich City Councillor Andrew Antoniolli shared exciting updates about the city’s developments and upcoming events. Speaking on West Bremer Radio‘s Brekkie Club, Councillor Antoniolli discussed the plans for a new playground at Woodend Park, responding to community feedback that emphasised the need for better recreational spaces in the growing suburb.
“Woodend is expanding, with many young families moving in. Providing access to playground facilities is crucial,” said Councillor Antoniolli. A council assessment has confirmed that Woodend Park is ideal for the new playground, and plans are now in motion. Although the funds will be discussed in a future budget, residents can look forward to enjoying the new facilities in the near future.
In addition to park plans, the Ipswich Sustainable Living Festival takes center stage this weekend. The event, held on Saturday, October 19, at Tulmur Place in the Nicholas Street precinct, will feature workshops, demonstrations, and family-friendly entertainment. With presenters from ABC’s Gardening Australia and second-hand clothing markets from Quibble, it’s the perfect opportunity to explore a greener lifestyle.
Councillor Antoniolli also stressed the importance of disaster preparedness as the storm and bushfire season approaches. “Get ready,” he said. “The recent storms remind us of the need to prepare our homes and families for potential disasters.” Residents can visit Ipswich City Council’s disaster dashboard to stay informed about emergencies, from river heights to road closures and power outages. The council will also have experts at the Sustainable Living Festival to help residents understand how to prepare for the storm season.

As Ipswich continues to grow and thrive, the city is not only looking ahead to new community projects but also ensuring residents are ready for whatever challenges nature might bring.
