Following the success of their Conversations in Open Spaces exhibition at the Ipswich Community Gallery, local artists Cynthia Copley and Amy Stapleton are taking their works to Crows Nest Regional Art Gallery.
The exhibition, which opens March 12 and runs until April 13, showcases their unique interpretations of the same landscapes from across southeast Queensland.
“Amy and I have been painting together for two years,” Copley said. “We respond to the same landscapes in different ways—she works with mixed media like acrylics, charcoal, and pastels, while I focus on oil painting. Our work really complements each other.”
The pair’s artwork was first exhibited in Ipswich as part of a Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) grant, and the opportunity to bring it to Crows Nest is an exciting next step.
“It’s months of work, so it’s great that we get to share it with a new audience,” she said. “Crows Nest is a fantastic little town with an amazing gallery, great restaurants, and local charm, making it the perfect day trip.”
Art lovers are invited to attend a Meet the Artists session on Sunday, March 16, where Copley and Stapleton will discuss their creative process and the inspiration behind their works.
Unlike its first run, this exhibition will offer pieces for sale.
“This time, we’re selling the artworks,” Copley confirmed. “So if you missed out in Ipswich, now’s your chance!”
Additionally, Copley will host a ‘Boost Your Artist Profile’ workshop on March 22 at Fire Station 101, aimed at emerging artists looking to refine their artist statements, biographies, and professional presence.
