Ipswich Acting Mayor Nicole Jonic has confirmed some major highlights for the city this week, led by the long-awaited announcement of the CMC Rocks Queensland 2026 lineup.
The three-day country music festival will return to Ipswich from 20–22 March 2026, headlined by Jordan Davis, Old Dominion, and Riley Green, alongside stars including Carly Pearce, Casey Barnes, Tucker Wetmore, and Tyler Braden.
“CMC Rocks has been roaring in Ipswich since 2015,” Cr Jonic said on West Bremer Radio. “In 2025 more than 23,000 people attended, with half coming from interstate – it’s an incredible economic boost for our city.”
With accommodation already in short supply during festival season, Cr Jonic urged fans to “book it or pitch a tent” and prepare for tickets to go on sale at 10am this Thursday.
Away from the stage, Cr Jonic celebrated the Brisbane Lions’ AFL finals campaign, with the council’s partnership with the club continuing to showcase Ipswich through the Brighton Homes Arena in Springfield. “Sport is in our DNA here in Ipswich, and it’s fantastic to see both the Lions and Suns in September football,” she said.
Looking ahead to the September school holidays, Cr Jonic encouraged families to make use of the “hidden gem” of Ipswich Libraries. Running from 22–30 September, the library program features hands-on workshops, drop-in activities, and conservation shows. “It’s not all about books,” she said. “Kids can drive robots, learn butterfly conservation, or even explore shields and heraldry.”
The Acting Mayor also reflected on the city’s Vietnam Veterans Day commemoration, paying tribute to those who served. “Whether or not people agreed with the war, the men and women who fought made huge sacrifices. It’s important we honour them properly.”
