Ipswich life coach Loz from LozLife is warning residents that excessive late-night screen time is causing what she calls “digital hangovers”—leaving people feeling exhausted, anxious, and mentally flat.
Speaking on The Brekkie Club on West Bremer Radio, Loz explained that the combination of doom scrolling, constant notifications, and device overuse is draining people’s energy, wrecking sleep, and harming self-esteem.
“At night, people think they’re winding down, but really, they’re overstimulating their nervous system with constant pings, lights, and doom scrolling,” Loz said. “It’s no different to having a big night out—you wake up feeling wrecked.”
Loz’s Three Top Tips to Beat Digital Overload:
- Set a Phone Curfew – No screens for 30–60 minutes before bed.
- Kill the Notifications – Turn off non-essential alerts to prevent constant distraction.
- Go on a Dopamine Fast – No phone for the first 30 minutes of your morning to let your mind settle naturally.
Loz says making phones “boring” at night—by using grayscale mode or Do Not Disturb—can stop overstimulation and help restore healthy rest.
“Screens off, self-worth on—that’s the upgrade most people actually need,” Loz said.
