Moviegoers in Ipswich can look forward to a music-filled week on the big screen, with Limelight Cinemas Riverlink unveiling a lineup of new releases, live events and discounted family screenings.

Speaking on West Bremer Radio’s Limelight Cinemas podcast, cinema representative Lex highlighted several key attractions arriving this week, including the highly anticipated concert documentary Epic: Elvis Presley in Concert.

Rare Elvis Footage Hits the Big Screen

The new film, produced using archival material uncovered during Baz Luhrmann’s research for his 2022 biopic Elvis, features previously unseen footage from Elvis Presley’s 1970s Las Vegas residency, along with interviews offering the music legend’s personal perspective on his life and career.

The film opens Thursday and will be complemented by a special event on Saturday night, featuring Elvis tribute artist Tristan James. The evening includes a meet-and-greet session, a live in-cinema concert and a screening of the film in the cinema’s XD auditorium.

“This is for Elvis fans who want the full experience on the big screen,” Lex said.

Comedy and Music Documentaries Also Screening

Also opening this week is the British comedy Fackham Hall, starring comedian Jimmy Carr and actor Tom Felton, offering a more irreverent option for audiences seeking adult humour.

Music lovers can also catch Paul McCartney: A Man on the Run, a one-off documentary screening that provides an intimate look at the Beatles legend’s songwriting and creative process.

The exclusive showing will take place Thursday night only.

Family Film Deals for Rainy Weekends

With school holidays and wet weather continuing to drive demand for indoor entertainment, the cinema is also offering discounted screenings for families this weekend.

Selected titles, including Zootopia 2, SpongeBob SquarePants: Search for SquarePants and Brisbane-made animation The Pout Pout Fish, will be available for $8 tickets.

Lex said the promotion was aimed at giving families an affordable outing while keeping children entertained.

“We know families are always looking for something fun and budget-friendly to do,” she said.

Tickets and session times are available through the Limelight Cinemas website, with organisers encouraging movie fans to book early for the Elvis event and limited documentary screening.
