Movie lovers are in for a blockbuster few weeks at Limelight Cinemas, with Christopher Nolan’s highly anticipated The Odyssey, a celebration of Studio Ghibli classics and a fun-filled National Pyjama Day fundraiser all hitting the big screen.

Speaking on the Limelight Cinemas podcast, Marketing Manager Lex said Nolan’s latest epic is one of the biggest cinema events of the year.

“This is Christopher Nolan’s absolute big screen masterpiece,” she said.

Featuring an all-star cast including Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya and Robert Pattinson, The Odyssey has already been generating excitement among movie fans.

“The biggest piece of advice from everyone who’s had a sneak peek is to see it on the biggest screen close to you. That’s what Christopher Nolan’s films are made for,” Lex said.

To showcase the film, Limelight’s upgraded XD cinema now features a new laser projector, premium recliners, day beds and wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling screens designed to deliver an immersive viewing experience.

Anime fans are also in for a treat, with Limelight launching a two-month Studio Ghibli retrospective.

Following anniversary screenings of Kiki’s Delivery Service, audiences can enjoy classics including My Neighbour Totoro, Castle in the Sky, Ponyo, Grave of the Fireflies, Princess Mononoke, Howl’s Moving Castle and Spirited Away.

“We know the true fans love the subtitled versions, but we also wanted to introduce these films to families with dubbed screenings as well,” Lex said.

Meanwhile, Limelight will once again swap formal attire for fluffy slippers as it celebrates National Pyjama Day on 24 July.

The popular “PJs for Popcorn” fundraiser encourages moviegoers to wear their pyjamas to the cinema while supporting the National Pyjama Foundation.

“I just wanted an excuse to wear my pyjamas to work,” Lex joked.

“But we actually love seeing people come in their PJs. It means they’re comfortable and feel right at home.”

On the day, $1 from every popcorn sold and $2 from every popcorn and drink combo across Limelight’s three locations will be donated to the National Pyjama Foundation.
