Ipswich is set for a festive transformation as the highly anticipated Nicholas Street Precinct prepares to officially open this Friday, marking a major milestone in the city’s redevelopment efforts. Mayor Teresa Harding emphasised the significance of this transformation, which will feature key entertainment venues, including Hoyts Cinemas, General Public. “This precinct will revitalize our CBD and boost our night-time economy,” Mayor Harding said, noting that studies predict nearly $1.2 billion in economic contributions to Ipswich by 2032.

Opening night at Hoyts Cinemas will feature Gladiator 2, with options for all ages throughout the weekend. The precinct’s expansion also includes Queensland’s first “Eatertainery” from General Public, with bowling lanes, arcade games, golf simulators, and more for a complete entertainment experience.

In other city news, the Rosewood Library will temporarily close from November 11 to December 9 for necessary roof repairs following storm damage in 2020. During this time, library users will have an extended borrowing limit of 40 items, and access to other Ipswich library branches will remain available.

Meanwhile, Springfield’s e-scooter trial with Beam Mobility will conclude on November 22, following a successful 15-month run that saw over 27,000 rides taken across the area. Though Beam will end its operations in Ipswich, residents who own personal e-scooters can continue using them. A feedback survey is open on Shape Your Ipswich for those who want to share their experiences with the trial.

Ipswich’s upcoming holiday events, including details for Christmas celebrations, will soon be shared online. Community groups planning festive activities are encouraged to notify Council to have their events added to the official website.
