State Championships at Ivor Marsden

🏏 Tough Conditions:

  • The under-19 state championships kicked off, but rain has heavily disrupted play.
  • Despite this, teams made the most of their downtime, visiting local attractions like Hoyts Cinema, General Public, and Jets Leagues Club.

🏏 Local Performance:

  • Ipswich’s FCQ boys had a strong start, defeating Brisbane North on day one.
  • Narrow loss to the Brisbane-based Day to Bears on day two.

Weekend Results

🌦️ Rain Interruptions:

  • First Grade: Bryn Lawellyn and Ethan Ramsbotham’s strong partnership (1 for 100 at lunch) set a promising start before rain halted play.
  • Second Grade: Despite early struggles (3 for 10), Jack Howard (27 not out) and Harry Austin (veteran at 24) steadied the innings at 3 for 50.
