Health and wellness coach Lauren “Loz” Antonenko has a message for Ipswich listeners — your body is built to move, not to sit still.

Speaking on The Brekkie Club on West Bremer Radio, Loz said people need to stop viewing exercise as punishment and start treating movement as medicine.

“Movement isn’t just about looking fit, it’s about staying functional,” she said. “You should be able to bend, lift, chase your dog, or dance in the kitchen without needing a chiropractor on speed dial.”

Loz said too many people approach exercise with guilt, linking it to overeating or skipped workouts.

“That’s not movement — that’s martyrdom,” she laughed. “Your body actually wants to move. When you sit all day, your muscles weaken, your joints stiffen, and your brain throws a tantrum.”

Her advice? Start small.

“You don’t have to train like an athlete — just move like a human,” she said. “Walking, stretching, dancing, even lifting your groceries with intention makes a difference.”

She also urged listeners not to shy away from strength training, saying it’s not just for “gym bros.”

“Strength training isn’t about vanity — it’s about longevity,” Loz explained. “We naturally lose muscle as we age, which slows our metabolism and weakens our bones. Lifting safely helps keep you strong and injury-free.”

Her third tip focused on consistency over intensity.

“Follow the 1% rule — just move 1% more than yesterday,” she said. “Take the stairs, stretch while the kettle boils, or dance between emails. It’s not about perfection; it’s about momentum.”

Loz will host a free online masterclass, Move It or Lose It, on Friday, November 21, helping participants “fall back in love with movement” and learn how to future-proof their bodies.
