Ipswich is set to receive a world-class sporting and entertainment hub, with construction on the North Ipswich Sport and Entertainment Precinct officially moving to its next phase.

Federal Member for Blair Shayne Neumann welcomed the milestone, confirming that Stage 1 planning and design is now complete, paving the way for Stage 2 construction to begin.

“Stage 2 will deliver a new two-storey western grandstand, upgraded player and spectator facilities, enhancements to the existing Corporate Centre, and a public plaza at North Ipswich Reserve,” Mr. Neumann said.

Multi-Million Dollar Investment in Ipswich’s Future

The $41.4 million project is being jointly funded by:

  • Australian Government: $20 million
  • Queensland Government: $10 million
  • Ipswich City Council: $11.4 million

The State Government’s contribution was secured through the efforts of Member for Ipswich West, Wendy Bourne, who fought to obtain funding from the former Miles Labor Government.

“This is a game-changer for Ipswich,” Ms. Bourne said. “Our city is one of Queensland’s fastest-growing regions and a sporting powerhouse—we deserve world-class facilities.”

A Venue for Major Sporting & Cultural Events

Once completed by mid-2027, the upgraded precinct will:

  • Support 92 jobs during construction (31 direct, 61 indirect).
  • Attract top-level NRL and A-League matches, concerts, and events.
  • Serve as a training venue for Olympic and Paralympic athletes in Brisbane 2032.

“This facility will put Ipswich on the national stage,” Neumann said. “I look forward to seeing construction take shape and delivering lasting benefits for our region.”
