This Saturday, the Queensland Police Service (QPS) is hosting the QPS Community Safety and Career Expo in Ipswich, offering a unique opportunity for residents to learn about careers in policing and emergency services. The event, which will take place at the Ipswich Turf Club, will run from 10am to 1pm, offering a variety of activities and insights for all ages.
Senior Constable Kerrin Sheedy, a regular voice on West Bremer Radio’s Crime Watch segment, encouraged everyone to attend. “Whether you’re interested in community safety initiatives or curious about a career in policing or emergency services, this event has something for everyone,” she said.
The Expo will showcase career opportunities within the Queensland Police and other emergency services, along with community safety initiatives. It’s a family-friendly event featuring representatives from various emergency services, offering insights and demonstrations on the diverse roles available.
Senior Constable Sheedy, with 23 years of service under her belt, reflected on her rewarding career. “We’re recruiting passionate people from all backgrounds who want to make a difference. Policing offers unique opportunities to engage with the community every day.”
Now is an ideal time to join the QPS, with new incentives such as free accommodation during training, HECS debt payments, relocation bonuses, and no application fees. “A career in policing offers endless possibilities, from protecting and responding to investigating and supporting the community,” Senior Constable Sheedy added.
The event will be held at the Ipswich Turf Club, located at 219 Brisbane Road, Bundamba. Tickets are free, and registration is available at Eventbrite. For more information, contact the Ipswich District Crime Prevention Unit at 3817 1351.
If you’ve ever considered a career in policing or emergency services, this Expo is the perfect opportunity to learn more and take the first step.
