Ipswich health coach Loz is urging locals to stop beating themselves up over biscuits, warning that food guilt can do far more damage than the occasional sweet treat.
Speaking on West Bremer Radio’s Breakky Club, Loz explained that the shame spiral many people experience after eating foods like chocolate or biscuits is a bigger health risk than the food itself.
“It’s not the Tim Tam that wrecks your health—it’s the guilt that comes after it,” Loz said. “Your body doesn’t care about morals, it just wants fuel. When you shame yourself for eating, it damages your relationship with food.”
She outlined three key points:
- Guilt isn’t a nutrient. Calories don’t come with shame—it’s something we add ourselves.
- Restriction breeds rebellion. Banning foods only makes us crave them more, leading to binges.
- Flexibility beats perfection. The healthiest people enjoy balance—broccoli and brownies—without the breakdown.
Loz encourages following the 80/20 rule: eating well most of the time while allowing treats without guilt. “The healthiest people aren’t eating salad 24/7—they can enjoy a slice of cake and move on,” she said.
To help locals kick food guilt to the curb, Loz is hosting a free webinar on Monday, September 8 titled “Food Guilt Can F Right Off.” The session will give practical tools to build a healthier relationship with food.
Details will be available at lozlife.com and via her social media channels. Spots are limited.
“Eating the biscuit won’t ruin your life,” Loz said. “But hating yourself for eating it just might.”
