If standing up makes you groan or your chair feels like a permanent fixture, you might be turning into what wellness coach Loz Antonenko calls a “modern-day statue.”

Speaking on West Bremer Radio’s Brekkie Club, Loz said too many people are spending their lives seated — at work, at home, and even during leisure time — and it’s wreaking havoc on our bodies.

“We sit to eat, to work, to scroll — and then wonder why our hips ache and our energy disappears,” Loz explained. “Your body wasn’t built to sit all day. Even two minutes of stretching every half hour can wake up your muscles and your brain.”

Loz warned that excessive sitting leads to tight hips, weak glutes, and poor posture — “basically turning you into a question mark.” But it’s not just about appearance; it affects your mood, focus, and long-term health.

She encouraged people to remember that “motion equals emotion.” Movement, she said, creates motivation, releases stress, and boosts endorphins.

“If you’re in a funk, don’t try to think your way out of it — walk your way out of it,” Loz advised.

Strength training also plays a key role in maintaining mobility and vitality as we age.

“Strong beats skinny every time,” Loz said. “Muscle is your metabolism, your armor, and your ticket to aging well. You don’t need a beach body — you need a body that still works at the beach.”

For those looking to rediscover the joy of movement, Loz is hosting a “Move It or Lose It” masterclass on Friday, November 21, teaching practical ways to boost energy and future-proof your body.
