As the year wraps up, Bundamba MP Lance McCallum shared highlights from 2024, including milestones, major upgrades, and community achievements during the final State of Play segment on West Bremer Radio.

McCallum, recently appointed Shadow Minister for Energy, reaffirmed his commitment to advocating for cleaner, affordable energy solutions. “Energy is at a crossroads, and we’ll fight to keep assets in public ownership while delivering cost-of-living support,” he said, referencing achievements like the $1,000 energy rebates provided during his government’s tenure.

Closer to home, McCallum celebrated Ripley Valley State Secondary College’s inaugural Year 12 graduation. “This state-of-the-art school has grown alongside the Ripley community. It’s an honour to see the first graduates ready to embark on exciting futures,” he said, praising staff and families for their support.

Infrastructure improvements have also been a highlight, with the $40 million upgrade of Bundamba Train Station now complete. “The station looks fantastic with enhanced safety and accessibility, including a new lift,” McCallum said. He encouraged locals to explore the revamped facility.

Meanwhile, Ipswich Hospital’s $1.066 billion expansion progresses, with construction of the acute services building and plans for a new multi-story car park underway. The upgrades will add 200 beds, six operating theatres, and an expanded emergency department. “This is a critical investment in our rapidly growing community,” McCallum noted.

Reflecting on 2024, McCallum cited the delivery of significant cost-of-living measures as a highlight. “Support like free TAFE, energy rebates, and 50-cent fares has made a real difference for local families,” he said.

As the year closes, McCallum wished the community a safe and joyous holiday season, promising to return in 2025 ready to continue advocating for Bundamba.
