Bundamba MP Lance McCallum kicked off 2025 with enthusiasm, outlining key priorities and milestones for his electorate during the first “State of Play” segment on West Bremer Radio.

Reflecting on the festive season, McCallum admitted to sporting a “holiday fuzz” during his break but confirmed he and his office are back in action, serving the community. “It’s great to see so many smiling faces and be back to business,” he said.

A major highlight for Bundamba this year is the opening of the brand-new Collingwood Park High School. “This state-of-the-art facility will open its doors on January 28th, marking a huge milestone for local families,” McCallum said.

McCallum also noted the ongoing positive impact of cost-of-living relief measures implemented by the Miles government in 2024. Initiatives like 50-cent flat fares and $1,300 in energy rebates have eased financial pressures. “These measures make a huge difference, particularly during high-cost periods like Christmas and New Year,” he said.

Fair Play vouchers, which help families afford sports fees, were another focus. McCallum highlighted their importance in promoting healthy, active lifestyles for children while supporting local clubs. “It’s a win-win for families and our hardworking local sporting groups,” he added.

Turning to pressing issues, McCallum expressed concern over homelessness and criticized the state government’s budgetary decisions. He called for the reinstatement of a 20% annual funding boost for homelessness providers, as outlined in the 2024 budget. “This funding is critical for supporting vulnerable families in Ipswich,” he emphasised.
