Ipswich’s popular “All Ability Hour” segment on West Bremer Radio featured a detailed discussion on upcoming NDIS changes and the exciting expansion of the Focal’s Friday Night Fever group. Patty, co-host of the show, returned from a cruise and brought updates on NDIS plan reviews and the increasing popularity of local support groups for people with disabilities.
Patty explained that recent NDIS changes aim to improve the system for participants. She encouraged individuals to review their plans and ensure they are still suitable. “It’s crucial for clients to stay updated, especially with the recent changes,” she said, suggesting that clients reach out to their NDIS coordinators or the agency itself for clarification.
The discussion also touched on how achieving goals within an NDIS plan could lead to a review and updated goals, making it essential for clients to keep track of their progress. Patty stressed the importance of maintaining communication with NDIS to ensure plans are current and effective.
In more exciting news, the Friday Night Fever group, which offers a social outlet for individuals with disabilities, is expanding to meet demand. The disco-themed event, held fortnightly, provides a fun, themed evening for participants to enjoy music, dancing, and social interaction. Due to the popularity of the event, with 22 clients attending regularly, Patty announced it will become a weekly affair by the end of October.
“This group is about more than just dancing—it’s a place for building friendships and enhancing social interaction,” Patty explained. “Themed nights, from high school prom to country dress-up, make it a highlight for many attendees.”
With this expansion, more clients will have the opportunity to join the fun, fostering a sense of community and belonging.
