Ipswich artists Cynthia Copley and Amy Stapleton are set to present a collaborative art exhibition at the Ipswich Art Gallery’s Community Gallery space from October 10 to 20. The exhibition will feature large-scale landscape works, showcasing the local scenery through two different artistic lenses.
Both contemporary landscape artists, Copley and Stapleton, have been working together for several years and share a passion for plein air painting, where artists paint outdoors directly in nature. Their exhibition brings together their individual interpretations of the same landscapes, offering visitors two distinct perspectives on familiar scenes.
Copley, an award-winning oil painter, and Stapleton, who works with mixed media including charcoal and pastel, will present five large works each, alongside sketches and preliminary works. “It’s going to be an exciting exhibition, as our pieces, though inspired by the same landscapes, look very different due to our unique styles,” said Stapleton.
Copley added, “We’ve been planning this exhibition for a while, and it’s great to finally bring it to life, particularly in our local area. The Ipswich art community has been incredibly supportive, and we’re thrilled to showcase our work in the city we love.”
The exhibition will be free to the public, with an official opening on October 12 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. The event is open to all, no RSVP required.
This project is proudly supported by the Regional Arts Development Fund, a partnership between Ipswich City Council and Arts Queensland, which helps artists bring cultural projects to life. Copley and Stapleton’s exhibition promises to be an impressive celebration of local talent and the beauty of Ipswich landscapes.
