Councillor Marnie Doyle of Division 3 joined West Bremer Radio to discuss recent achievements and upcoming initiatives as Ipswich prepares for a bustling 2025.
Christmas and Summer Highlights
The holiday season saw significant milestones in Division 3, including the completion of the multimillion-dollar upgrade to Cameron Park in Booval. The revamped park features an in-ground trampoline, all-abilities swing, and picnic shelters inspired by the iconic Queenslander design. Opened just before Christmas, the park quickly became a hit with families.
Meanwhile, the Christmas in Ipswich celebrations drew an estimated 218,000 visitors to the Nicholas Street Precinct, delighting crowds with dazzling lights, Hoyts cinema, and dining options like Kickin’ In.
Australia Day Recognition and Free Pool Access
The city celebrated its 2025 Australia Day Awards this week, recognizing residents and organizations making a difference. Division 3’s Martin Shaw was named Citizen of the Year for his tireless advocacy for veterans through Wounded Heroes, which also received the Community Group of the Year award.
To beat the heat this weekend, residents can enjoy free entry to council-owned pools, including Bundamba and Leichhardt Swim Centres, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, January 26.
Council Back in Session
The first Ipswich City Council meeting for 2025 is scheduled for Tuesday, January 28. Councillor Doyle highlighted the importance of adopting the new Ipswich Plan, which will guide the city’s growth as its population is set to more than double by 2046.
Residents are encouraged to participate by attending council meetings in person or via live stream on YouTube.
With a full agenda ahead, Ipswich looks forward to a transformative year.
