Major Milestones in 2024

🌿 Colleges Crossing Reopens

  • After devastation in the 2022 floods, Colleges Crossing Recreation Reserve is back with a flood-resilient design.
  • Features: 100+ mature trees, 35,000 new plants, 22,000 square metres of turf, and a state-of-the-art all-abilities playground.
  • Instead of a cafĂ©, there’s a new space for food trucks, catering to a broader audience.

🎨 Spark Ipswich: Delight Artist Call-Out

  • Event Dates: July 11–20, 2025.
  • Local artists are invited to submit works for projection on the Tulmur Walk building facade.
  • Selected artists will receive a $1,000 commission.

Key Updates and Challenges

🗑️ Industrial Action and Waste Services

  • Union-led industrial action has disrupted garbage collection in certain areas.
  • Mayor Harding clarified that, under Queensland law, industrial disputes are managed by the CEO, not councillors.
  • Emergency waste facilities remain operational for affected residents.

Council Holiday Break

  • Council services will take a short break from December 24 (1pm) to January 2, 2025.
  • Essential services and emergency operations will continue uninterrupted.
