📌 Ipswich City Plan 2025 to Guide Growth for the Next 20 Years
Ipswich City Council is advancing its City Plan 2025 and Local Government Infrastructure Plan, which will guide the city’s development for the next two decades. Mayor Teresa Harding said the new scheme will replace outdated planning from the mid-2000s, when Ipswich had just 140,000 residents. With the population now nearing 250,000 and expected to exceed 500,000 by 2045, the plan aims to address housing affordability, encourage denser living near transport hubs, and streamline approvals for secondary dwellings like granny flats.

🎨 New Public Art Projects Under SEQ City Deal
Ipswich will see two new public art installations as part of the South East Queensland City Deal Public Art Initiative, funded under a $1.8 billion package. Council received 113 expressions of interest from artists, ultimately shortlisting 13 for design funding. The selected works will be installed at D’Arcy Doyle Place and Bremervale Park in Raceview, enriching the city’s cultural identity. “Public art says who we are,” said Harding. “And now we’ve built a bank of artist ideas for future projects too.”

🌏 Multicultural Advisory Committee Formed
Reflecting Ipswich’s growing diversity, Council has approved a new Multicultural Advisory Committee, to be chaired by Councillor Paul Tully Augustine. Over 22,000 residents speak a language other than English at home, with people from 163 countries and 152 languages represented. The committee aims to foster harmony and ensure inclusivity across council decision-making.

🔥 Ripley Valley Fire Brigade Celebrates 30 Years
Mayor Harding also attended the 30th anniversary open day for the Ripley Valley Rural Fire Service, celebrating their vital volunteer work. The brigade now has 40 members and is one of seven across Ipswich. Harding praised their dedication, saying, “If you want to help your community, joining the brigade is a great way.”

🎉 Events Keep Ipswich Buzzing
With Winter Nationals drag racing at Willowbank Raceway this weekend and the Spark Festival and Festival of Horsepower coming soon, Ipswich continues to shine as a hub of culture, motorsport, and community pride. “There’s something for everyone,” Harding said. “Get your gear on and enjoy it!”
