The festive season has arrived, and Division 2 is at the heart of the celebrations with the launch of the Christmas in Ipswich program. Deputy Mayor and Division 2 Councillor Nicole Jonic unveiled a vibrant calendar of events guaranteed to bring joy to families across the region.

One of the standout additions is the Dive In Movie at Orion Lagoon on Saturday, December 21, from 6:30 PM. This new event combines the magic of cinema with summer fun, allowing attendees to enjoy a movie while relaxing in the water. Councillor Jonic urged residents to arrive early: “Bring a picnic blanket and secure your spot for an unforgettable evening under the stars.”

For last-minute Christmas shopping, the Orion Twilight Christmas Market at Springfield Central opens its doors on Monday, December 23, from 9 AM to midnight. “This market offers everything from unique gifts to delicious food and family entertainment,” Jonic added, promising a magical atmosphere.

Division 2 Councillor Paul Tully highlighted the return of the Shiloh Church Christmas Carols on December 13 and 14. “This event is a community favourite, featuring carols, giveaways, face painting, food trucks, and a fireworks finale,” he said. Special guest Rory McKenna, finalist of X-Factor New Zealand, will headline the musical performances.

Additionally, the citywide Christmas Lights Competition invites residents to transform their homes and businesses into dazzling displays, with $8,000 in prizes up for grabs.

Division 2’s celebrations extend to iconic events like the St Nicholas Precinct light installation (December 13–22) and the lighting of the City Christmas Tree in d’Arcy Doyle Place on November 28.
